Start a SEA Award application now.

Qualifying NRHC members are encouraged to apply for the SEA Award. NRHC will award up to twenty (20) awards each year. This scholarship waives the student's conference registration and provides supplemental funds ($50 in spending cash) to the student to cover costs at the conference itself.

SEA Award Qualifications:

  • Student is currently active in honors at an NRHC member institution.

  • Student proposal has been accepted for the upcoming conference.

  • Student has been recommended by the administrator of the school’s honors program or college.

  • Student must belong to a traditionally underrepresented group based on race, ethnicity, gender, or ability.

Fair Distribution:

To ensure scholarship money is spread equitably across the region…

  • No more than one (1) student from a member institution may receive an NRHC SEA Award in any one calendar year.

  • If funds remain after initial distribution, other students from an institution receiving an SEA will be considered.

Submission:

All application materials should be submitted via the SEA Award application form. Once institutional membership is verified, the application will be forwarded to the NRHC Scholarship Selection Committee, consisting of the two faculty representatives and one of the two student representatives OR the vice-president.

Students must be nominated by a faculty or staff member who must submit the application on behalf of the student.  The application includes an essay written by the student in response to the following prompt:  Write a 350-500 word essay describing your educational and career goals and how attending the NRHC conference will support those goals.

Basis of Award:

Scholarships are awarded competitively based on the quality of the application.
