Partners in the Parks & Place as Text Scholarships

Partners in the Parks is an outdoor experiential learning program coordinated by the National Collegiate Honors Council. PITP projects at national parks across the country offer unique opportunities for collegiate honors students and faculty to visit areas of the American landscape noted for their beauty, significance and lasting value.

Place as Text encourages active learning by fostering critical inquiry and integrative learning across disciplines while actively exploring a given location or city. Each location becomes a living textbook as you gain first-hand experience into a location's heritage, culture, social dynamics, and more.

Partner in the Parks seminars led by university faculty and park personnel include historical, scientific, cultural, and other important topics unique to a given park. Projects will also take advantage of exciting recreational opportunities in the parks to broaden participants’ understanding of the overall value of national parks to our country and its citizens. Read about the current PITP opportunities here.

The NCHC also offers students opportunities to study away from their home campuses in its Honors Semester program and the Place as Text program. For more information about current opportunities, click here.

The NRHC is pleased to offer its member institutions and their students a scholarship to help defray the cost of these programs. See below for information about applying for the NRHC scholarship. Students interesting in these programs should also apply to the NCHC's scholarship, NCHC scholarship information is available here.
